Abstract
Di Indonesia terdapat bermacam-macam sistem pengobatan tradisional antara lain sistem pengobatan tradisional Cina, sistem pengobatan Ayurveda dan sistem pengobatan Islam. Jumlah pengobatan tradisional di Indonesia diperkirakan tidak kurang dari 100.000 orang dan pada umumnya melakukan praktek di pedesaan. Menurut perhitungan kasar setiap ahli pengobatan tradisional melayani 1.500 penduduk. Salah satu bentuk pengobatan tradisional yang sampai sekarang masih banyak diminati oleh masyarakat adalah pengobatan tradisional patah tulang atau " bone setter" atau sangkal putung yaitu pengobatan tradisional yang mengupayakan pengembalian fungsi anggota gerak yang tidak normal akibat patah tulang atau sejenisnya.
