Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the production of 'Paluma' and 'Século XXI' guava nursery plants on four types of substrates. Herbaceous rooted cuttings from both cultivars were planted in black plastic bags of 3L containing as substrates: pure soil (Latossolo), mixture of soil + sand + organic matter (corral manure) (2:1:1), Plantmax® and coconut fiber Sococo®. After 45 days of the transplantation, the length of the aerial part was evaluated each fifteen days, and after 180 days were evaluated: the fresh and dry mass of aerial part, the fresh and dry mass of the roots, the number of roots per plant, and the root length. The results showed that the better development of rooting system and stems occurred on the mixture of soil + sand + organic matter and Plantmax® substrates.
