Abstract
This article examines the divergences among Brazilian intelectuals about American foreign policy for Latin America considering Manoel Bomfim's criticism against American and European imperialism. It discusses his conception of the Monroe Doctrine and of the Latin American countries' solidarity as a factor of resistance.
