Abstract

ABSTRACT: This paper deals with the polemic subject of the Pre-Roman Trashumance, with special attention to the western meseta region. In the first section of the article, a general review on the interpretations argued by the 20th century's historiography is presented. After that, a new model for approaching to ancient Trashumance is proposed. Thus, taking into account the cattle potential, the drover's road and different evidences and mechanisms of contact between Pre-Roman communities, we defend an important cattle circulation. Since they are considered the main economic goods, domestic animals could have moved as primary commodity into the relationships and the exchange networks played by Vettones, Vaccaei and other indigenous entities
