Abstract
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki ogólnopolskiego badania Szkoła samodzielnego myślenia w części poświęconej umiejętności argumentowania. Badanie przeprowadzono na reprezentatywnej próbie uczniów z pięciu typów szkół: szkoły podstawowej (klasy IV), gimnazjum (klasy I), liceum, technikum, szkoły zawodowej (klasy I i ostatnie w cyklu kształcenia). Analiza uczniowskich prac umożliwiła nakreślenie obrazu świata młodych ludzi w części dotyczącej poglądów na temat szkoły i edukacji oraz uznawanych wartości. Zdecydowana większość uczniów deklarowała w swoich tekstach potrzebę funkcjonowania szkoły jako instytucji, zaś wśród ważnych dla nich wartości wymieniano najczęściej: wykształcenie, przyjaźń, dobrą pracę, miłość, poczucie bezpieczeństwa, zdrowie, tolerancję.
