Abstract
Studiul abordează fenomenul polisemiei în cadrul limbajului specializat al învățamântului superior (ÎS) în limba engleză și în limba română din perspectivă descriptiv-lingvistică. Se subliniază faptul că terminologia ÎS nu reprezintă un cod închis, întrucât în prezent cunoștințele specializate evoluează rapid și se îmbină cu cele de ordin general. Astfel, polisemia în terminologia ÎS reprezintă un rezultat natural al diversificării textelor și contextelor în care apar termenii din acest domeniu.
THE PHENOMENON OF POLYSEMY IN ROMANIAN AND ENGLISH TERMINOLOGY OF HIGHER EDUCATION
The study tackles the phenomenon of polysemy within the specialized language of higher education (HE) in English and Romanian from a descriptive-linguistic perspective. It is highlighted the idea that the terminology of higher education is not a closed code, because nowadays the specialized knowledge combines with general one. Thus, polysemy in higher education terminology represents a natural result of the diversification of the texts and contexts in which HE terms appear.
