Abstract
Realizaram-se 4 experimentos para testar as hipóteses do Modelo Reperceptual e de Tendência Central de Julgamentos. No Exp. 1 foi estimado a área de estados brasileiros; Exp. 2, a distância linear entre Brasília e capitais de estados, seja na presença de um mapa ou de memória após estudá-lo. Exps. 3 e 4, estimaram-se áreas ou distâncias perceptualmente ou após intervalos de diversas durações. Os resultados mostram: 1) a lei psicofisica de Stevens descreve bem tanto as estimativas perceptuais quanto as feitas de memória; 2) os expoentes derivados das estimativas percebidas são maiores que os feitos de memória; 3) os expoentes de memória diminuem, mas não regularmente, com o aumento do intervalo de tempo e 4) o Modelo de Tendência Central bem como uma hipótese alternativa que considera a amplitude dos estímulos, foram favorecidos pela tendência central dos dados obtidos.
