No presente artigo, abordaremos os significados atribuídos à expressão “ordem pública” pelos diferentes atores sociais em situação. Trata-se de uma reflexão
inicial que se insere no contexto mais amplo dos debates sobre “violência urbana” e sentimentos de insegurança. A análise se baseia na observação direta e no acompanhamento de discussões por meio de e-mails e blogs de Conselhos Comunitários de Segurança, Cafés Comunitários, Câmaras Comunitárias e fóruns congêneres de diferente locais da cidade do Rio de Janeiro no âmbito da pesquisa “Violência urbana: Padrões cognitivos e regimes de ação de segmentos das camadas médias no Rio de Janeiro”.
In The City for the Civilized: Meanings of Public Order in Contexts of Urban Violence we examine the meanings attributed to the expression “public order” by different social actors in the current situation. This preliminary reflection relates to the broader context of debates regarding “urban violence” and feelings of insecurity. The analysis is based on direct observation and discussions through emails and
blogs of Community Security Councils, Community Cafés, Community Chambers and similar forums of various sites in the city of Rio de Janeiro related to the study “Urban Violence: Cognitive standards and action regimes of middle layer segments in Rio de Janeiro”.
