Abstract
A educação escolar entre os povos indígenas, no Brasil, representou, historicamente, um recurso fundamental à construção de identidades colonizadas. Nas últimas décadas do séc. XX, esta realidade vem mudando, a partir da Constituição Federal de 1988, que garante uma educação específica, diferenciada, bilíngue e comunitária. Os indígenas passam a ressignificar esta escola como espaço de fronteira, lócus de negociação entre culturas distintas. Em Mato Grosso do Sul, as primeiras experiências acontecem na década de 1990 com a criação do Curso Ára Verá, formação de professores Guarani e kaiowá. As outras etnias se juntaram para viabilizar o curso “Povos do Pantanal” (nível médio), em 2007. Este processo de formação tem como eixos temáticos: território/territorialidade, sustentabilidade, diálogo intercultural, bilinguismo.
