Abstract

Se presenta una breve introducción al problema del origen de la masa desde la perspectiva de la física moderna de partículas. También se presenta una discusión elemental acerca del modelo estándar de las partículas y sus interacciones, todo esto incluyendo un esbozo del mecanismo de Higgs, que en este modelo es responsable de la generación de las masas de las partículas fundamentales.


A brief introduction is given to the problem of the origin of mass from the perspective of modern particle physics. Also an elementary discussion about the standard model of particles and their interactions is presented, together with a sketch of the Higgs mechanism, which in this model is responsible for the generation of the masses of the fundamental particles.
