Abstract
While the Cantabrian Wars (29-19 BC) were initiated after the consolidation of the personal
power of Octavian/Augustus in Rome, the celebration of a series of triumphs ex Hispania by the last peninsular Republican governors, suggests that military operations against the last independent peninsular ethnic groups began much earlier. The finding of a possible camp and/or battlefield in Andagoste is the archaeological verification of this assertion.
