Abstract
In architecture the word tectonics is associated with the concepts of structure and robustness. The very resistance of the materials dictates the rules of construction, assemblages, and the configuration of the constructive system. From this point it is possible to construct a theoretical object that encompasses design, materiality, and spatiality, all of which are part of one interrelated system. Understanding tectonic as an instrument is like using a tool that allows the architecture to be analysed and the relationship between the parts becomes clear. The author of this paper contemplates three important vectors that highlight the concepts of the constructive and spatial: the diagrammatic, in a geometric nature; the essential, or material; and the metaphorical, or symbolic. This analysis, which has a strong spatioconstructive potential, could help the rethinking of preconceived models in order to undertake new projects.
