Abstract
O presente artigo descreve um panorama geral de conceitos, serviços e aplicações na área florestal da utilização do Geographic Information System (GIS) por meio da computação em nuvem, o chamado Sistema de Informação Geográfica (SIG) na nuvem. Este modelo de distribuição de recursos amplia as capacidades atuais das empresas em prover a infraestrutura necessária ao processamento geográfico com investimentos adequados e portanto minimizando custos, além de fortalecer as atuais oportunidades de prestação de serviços remotos de SIG para as pequenas e médias empresas que desejam ter acesso a sistemas mais avançados tecnologicamente.AbstractThis paper presents an overview of concepts, services and applications in forestry use of GIS through cloud computing, called Cloud GIS. This resource allocation model extends the capabilities of existing companies in providing the necessary infrastructure to geographic processing with appropriate investments and therefore minimizing costs, besides strengthening the existing opportunities to provide services to remote GIS for small and medium forest businesses who want access the most technologically advanced systems.
