Abstract
Palestra proferida na Coordenação de Ensino e Normas Pedagógicas do Estado de São Paulo (cenp/sp), em 1985, no auge de uma das campanhas de inserção da disciplina Sociologia no currículo brasileiro. Este é um registro histórico de uma das participações do professor neste debate. Nesse texto, o autor reforça a importante função da Sociologia na escola, possibilitando que os estudantes questionem o instituído e pensem novas possibilidades de viver em sociedade.
