Abstract
Principles and preliminary data in vision, language, and audition (VLA) reached through research at a local public health unit are presented and discussed in this paper. Application levels are detailed, especially in primary prevention. Data referring to the experience of the VLA service of the Geraldo de Paula Souza Health Center of the Public Health School of the University of S. Paulo (Brazil) raise discussion about some basic points about the importance of VLA currently being used in public health in current preventive practice.
