Abstract
Este artigo analisa as representações presentes nas charges publicadas na Revista Ilustrada acerca do cotidiano da política municipal na capital federal, entre 1892 e 1898. A linguagem visual do humor é entendida como uma das formas de vocalizar os problemas da cidade do Rio de Janeiro e de encaminhar demandas da população em geral aos poderes municipais. Logo, a imprensa é compreendida como um importante local de mediação política.
