Abstract
Some issues related to dryness and drought phenomena in theBucharest Metropolitan Area. Dryness and drought phenomena are the mostcomplex climatic hazards occurred in southern Romania. Assessing theserestrictive climatic phenomena is fundamental in explaining their role inlandscape dynamics and vulnerabilities. The paper is willing to point out someaspects related to climatic conditions of dryness and drought in the BucharestMetropolitan Area based on annual, monthly and daily extreme climatic valuesfrom all the meteorological stations of concern (1961…2007).The authors aim at assessing dryness and drought phenomena by means of themain related parameters: the frequency of summer days with characteristictemperatures, heat waves (case-studies: 2000 and 2007) and positive thermalsingularities, relevant climatic indexes (Palfy Aridity Index).
