Abstract
The article aims at revealing the possibilities of a textual approach to the process and result of translation activity from a new perspective and stating the inviolability of the text as the main category of Translation Studies. The results of the conducted research show that the complex nature of translation requires con-sideration of a wide variety of factors, but the final set of parameters relevant to the translation process depends on the text, since it is the text that determines the primary and secondary communicative situations.
