Abstract
A incorporação da cultura visual uma categoria de pesquisa historiográfica, seja como fonte ou objeto de estudo, oferece diferentes problematizações para o historiador interessado não só nas relações entre História e Fotografia, mas também entre História e Cinema. Buscando apontar algumas diretrizes desse campo de investigação, esse artigo tem como objetivo discutir a relação Cinema-História, a partir de breves estudos de caso com filmes ocidentais que tem como temática ou referência principal o continente africano. O tema ainda é flexibilizado no sentido da utilização de filmes como instrumentos pedagógicos na atualidade.
