Abstract
La sífilis es una de las enfermedades que exi¡ge de parte del clínico mayor sagacidad en la interpretación de los signos y síntomas que la caracterizan: la multiplicidad de sus localizaciones, que son en ocasiones muy semejantes en su aspecto clínico a las de cualquier inflamación banal; la dificultad, que se presenta a menudo, de establecer de manera clara los antecedentes del enfermo, debido a la casi imposible discriminación de hechos que se han verificado en épocas remotas; la frecuente latencia de sus lesiones y otras muchas razones que sería demasiado largo enumerar, son la causa de que los médicos se vean obligados a echar mano de los numerosos recursos que en la actualidad les proporciona el laboratorio.
