Abstract
Las reformas sociales liberales, emprendidas a mediados del siglo pasado, no fueron suficientes para cubrir a la mujer y a la familia. Aunque se perciben hondas diferencias respecto a la época colonial, ello no significa que el papel subordinado de la mujer y el carácter indisoluble del matrimonio se hubiesen modificado. En este estudio se quiere comparar el proceso de cambio en el seno de algunas sociedades latinoamericanas.
