Abstract
La publicació de la Historia de Cataluña y la Corona de Aragón(1859) de Víctor Balaguer va ser la culminació d’un projecte ideològic, polítici cultural que es va anar gestant des de l’inici de la dècada dels cinquanta.Una de les baules d’aquest projecte va ser la publicació de El Conceller, desd’on es va articular l’estratègia publicística de difusió de la història, la literaturai la identitat catalanes —reinterpretades romànticament— al serveide la reconstrucció del partit liberal i del seu discurs modern, contrari al’autoritarisme reaccionari.
