Abstract
U radu se na osnovu tabua i magijskih radnji dekonstruiše dominantni diskurs materinstva u tradicionalnoj kulturi Srba u XIX i prvoj polovini XX veka. On predstavlja mehanizam socijalne - kontrole nad ženama kojim se održavala asimetrija i prevlast muškaraca. Pored toga, ukazuje se i na postojanje konkurentskog diskursa koji nam govori da su žene razvijale alternativna znanja zasnovana na iskustvu, opservaciji i religijsko-magijskim predstavama, kako bi rađanje dece i materinstvo uskladile sa svojim željama i interesima.
