Abstract
Construction activity is an important economic sector because it is associated with more than 30 economic activities, whose products are used either as a means of labor or materials for the construction and installation of buildings. The aim of this paper is to point to a place that occupies the building industry in the Republic of Serbia in the period 2006-2012. In order to consider appropriate changes, certain indicators were compared with some earlier periods. The analysis is performed through the consideration of the share of construction in GDP, investment in construction, the number of companies, number of employees and average wages in the area, the contractors (both at home and abroad), area and number of dwellings completed, hours of work on construction sites and international comparisons of the Republic of Serbia with the leading exporters in the world in the field of services to the construction industry. The analysis used data from surveys Construction Statistics, Employment and Earnings Statistics and National Accounts conducted by the Republic Statistical Office. In addition, we used the Statements of Operations of the economy in the Republic of Serbia, which for Business Registers Agency.
