Abstract
Este artigo visa discutir preliminarmente os problemas urbanos e habitacionais em Portugal, especialmente das cidades do Porto e Lisboa, decorrentes do crescimento demográfico e industrialização a partir dos finais do século XIX, de forma a perceber o seu impacto no estado sanitário da população. O objectivo do texto é cruzar informações referentes às condições de vida e políticas de habitação de modo a perceber a influência que tiveram na disseminação da tuberculose em Portugal.
