Abstract
Neste artigo comentamos brevemente a ideia de “fim da arte”, desenvolvida por Arthur Danto em Após o fim da Arte: A Arte contemporânea e o limite da história. Discutimos seu significado para a história da arte, e sua origem no panorama das artes visuais nos anos 60 do século passado. Em seguida efetuamos um paralelo entre a história da música e a história da arte, com o objetivo de verificar se a ideia de “fim da arte” se aplicaria também à música. Concluímos que a nova situação em que se encontram, tanto a música quanto as artes visuais, a partir dos anos 1960, requer uma transformação também na maneira como suas histórias são escritas e incitam à reflexão sobre os próprios conceitos de arte e música.
