Abstract
Observa-se, em diversos países, inclusive o Brasil, um interesse crescente em atender às necessidades educacionais e psicológicas de alunos que apresentam um potencial superior. Entretanto, diversos obstáculos se interpõem na implementação de programas e serviços para esta clientela. Este artigo, portanto, discute a importância de se investir na educação do superdotado e apresenta as principais barreiras ao desenvolvimento de práticas educacionais voltadas para os alunos com potencial superior. Além disso, este trabalho analisa o cenário da educação do aluno superdotado e talentoso no Brasil e examina as tendências atuais em relação ao atendimento a este grupo de alunos no cenário internacional.
