Abstract
Os autores fazem uma revisão sumária dos primeiros trabalhos sôbre psitacose e de sua conceituação etiológica em face da evolução dos conhecimentos sôbre o assunto. Citam os 5 casos da doença descritos no Brasil e apresentam um nôvo caso observado no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, em paciente com quadro clínico inicial semelhante ao da febre tifóide. Finalmente analisam a evolução clínica, radiológica e sorológica do caso, que os levou ao presente diagnóstico.
