Abstract
Tra i vari effetti dell' attrito interno sulla propagazione delle ondesuperficiali di Rayleigh, va notato quello sulla velocità: tale grandezzaè fortemente influenzata dall'azione dell'attrito interno, nel senso chela velocità di propagazione delle onde di Rayleigh, in un mezzo cheammette attrito interno, da un valore infinito per periodi nulli, tenderapidamente al valore che le compete in un mezzo puramente elastico.D'altronde, poiché anche l'azione assorbente del mezzo tende all'infinitocol tendere del periodo a zero, se ne conclude che l'effettodell'attrito interno sulla velocità di propagazione può essere constatatosolo per piccole distanze.Recentemente, una conferma sperimentale di questo effetto è stataottenuta dai giapponesi Ikegami e Kishinouye.
