Abstract
Članek predstavi idejno osnovo in zgodovinske spremembe koncepta spola v kitajski tradiciji. Na osnovi analize predqinskih in kasnejših pojmovanj spola in razlik v vrednotenju ženske in moške družbene vloge avtorica ugotavlja, da je bil ta koncept v antičnem obdobju precej egalitaren, saj je bil osnovan na komplementarnem razmerju med spoloma, ki se je odražalo v klasični definiciji binarnih konceptov yinyang in neiwai. Članek se osredotoča tudi na kasnejše spremembe v opredelitvi koncepta spola in nazorno pokaže, da se je v kasnejših interpretacijah državotvorne konfucijanske doktrine koncept spola spremenil iz egalitarnega, komplementarnega binarnega koncepta v koncept, ki moškemu predpisuje nadrejeno, ženski pa podrejeno vlogo.
