Abstract
El padecimiento de un infarto agudo de miocardio (IAM) genera importantes cambios en el estilo y la calidad de vida afectando este proceso no sólo a la persona que la padece sino además a los miembros de su familia, particularmente a su esposa. El objetivo de este estudio se centra en conocer y comprender las experiencias vividas por las mujeres de pacientes que han sufrido un infarto agudo de miocardio. Se trata de un diseño cualitativo con un abordaje desde la perspectiva de la fenomenología social realizado en 5 mujeres cuyas parejas habían sufrido un IAM hace 1 año, para obtener la información se realizó una entrevista en profundidad en su domicilio. Los datos fueron analizados según la perspectiva de la fenomenología social propuesta por Alfred Shutz. Los resultados obtenidos emergieron los siguientes temas: cambios en el estilo de vida y percepciones-sentimientos acerca de la enfermedad. Conclusiones: Las mujeres revelaron haber experimentado un proceso duro y difícil que ha generado importantes cambios en su estilo de vida: la necesidad de abandonar el trabajo para poder atender al enfermo así como la necesidad de adquirir nuevas responsabilidades.

The findings from the participants were analysed using phenomenological social Schutz´s method. Two major themes were then extracted from the results: "living in a changed life situation" and "feeling about the illness". Conclusions: the women revealed lived a hard and difficult process with very important changes in life situation: the need to leave the work for to be with ill and the need to take responsibility.
