Abstract
La familia Valerianaceae es reconocida en el Perú por presentar seis géneros y 92 especies (Brako & Zarucchi, 1993; Ulloa Ulloa et al., 2004), principalmente hierbas y subarbustos. En este trabajo reconocemos 41 especies y dos variedades como endemismos, representando cinco géneros, de los cuales Valeriana es el género más rico en especies endémicas. Los endemismos han sido encontrados principalmente en las regiones Puna Húmeda y Seca, Mesoandina y Altoandina, entre los 2700 y 5200 m de altitud. Se aplicaron las categorías y criterios de la UICN a 16 endemismos. Aparentemente, 14 taxones han sido registrados dentro del Sistema Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas por el Estado.
