Abstract
Air Amplifier operates without any moving parts, based on the Coanda effect. It induces a large amount of air by using small amount of compressed air. In order to improve the performance of air amplifier, numerous studies on the various geometrical configurations of the air amplifier have been conducted. In this study, the effect of the chamber configuration variations on the performance of the air amplifier was numerically investigated. Three different values of chamber size (annular gap = 3, 5.25, 7.5mm) were used as a design parameter under five different pressure (pc=0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5MPa) at the compressed air inlet. Numerical simulation was performed using the commercial code, ANSYS CFX 16.1 with the SST turbulence model adopted. The results for the pressure, velocity distribution and flow rates at the inlet and outlet were graphically depicted under the varied pressure conditions.
