Abstract
Mössbauer hyperfine spectra of ultrafine α-FeOOH particles measured at 77°K and 295°K show drastic changes such that the hyperfine field decreases before its collapse with decreasing particle size. These observations are similar to those obtained in superparamagnetic α Fe 2O 3.
