Abstract
El Convenio de Viena de 11 de abril de 1980 sobre la compraventa internacional de mercaderías es el principal instrumento de Derecho uniforme que regula esta modalidad contractual en 92 Estados pertenecientes a diferentes sistemas económicos y jurídicos. Sin embargo, algunos Estados formularon reservas a sus disposiciones. El artículo analiza el sistema de reservas contemplado en el Convenio y sus efectos jurídicos. Se realiza un análisis doctrinal y jurisprudencial de las reservas formuladas por los Estados, con la finalidad de aportar una mayor seguridad jurídica a los operadores del comercio internacional, quienes estarán mejor informados sobre el Derecho aplicable a su contrato.

Abstract
The Vienna Convention of April 11, 1980 on the international sale of goods is the main instrument of uniform law that regulates this contractual modality in 92 States belonging to different economic and legal systems. However, some States made reservations to their provisions. The article analyzes the reservation system contemplated in the Convention and its legal effects. A doctrinal and jurisprudential analysis of the reservations made by the States is carried out, in order to provide greater legal certainty to international trade operators, who will be better informed about the law applicable to their contract.
