Solid Waste Management of Microcomputers in the City of Contagem/MG: An Analysis of Parties Involved
Among many issues related to solid waste, one stands out more and more, due to recent legislation linked to the area (National Policy on Solid Waste - Law 12.305/2010), which stresses the concept of reverse logistics, in which the producer is responsible for waste disposal related to the products manufactured by them. This study aims to perform an analysis of the disposal process of electronic waste from computers within the city limits of Contagem/ MG, in order to understand the reality of these wastes disposal, analyzing the population view, the management bodies and a recycling company, within the logic of reverse logistics. Data collection was the methodological procedure. The results showed that when it comes to recycling, there isn´t a chain that can incorporate these waste efficiently yet, showing the presence of only one company in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, considering that the majority of screened waste is sent out of the State of Minas Gerais and abroad. In relation to the population, there is a repetition of the same mistakes from the past, with the overvaluation of economic growth at the expense of environmental issues. Finally, regarding the work, several limitations were found as lack of historical sales data, lack of data on the equipment life, the virtual absence of data from these items recycling.
