Draft genome sequence of a novel B. glycinifermentans strain JRCGR-1 having antifungal and antibacterial properties.

Abstract
Bacillus species have been used as a biocontrol agent against soil-borne pathogens because they produce secondary metabolites that exhibit wide range of antibacterial or antifungal potential. In current study, a novel strain of Bacillus glycinifermentans sp. (B. glycinifermentans JRCGR-1) was identified, and its genome was sequenced and annotated. The strain genome was explored for putative genes that are involved in antimicrobial activities.NextSeq 500 platform (Illumina Inc.) was used for the whole genome sequencing. Quality of read was checked by FastQC, paired-end reads were trimmed using Sickle and the de novo assembly was performed by SPAdes (version 3.11.11). QUAST 5.02 was used to assess the quality of contigs and scaffolds. Finally, the assembled scaffolds were annotated by Prokka (version v.1.13). The gene involved in antimicrobial metabolites biosynthesis were predicted using antiSMASH. Virulence and antibiotic genes were predicted using BacWGSTdb service and CARD, respectively.The genome size of B. glycinifermentans JRCGR-1 was found to be 4700692 bp with G + C content of 45.52%. The final assembly of the genome resulted into 84 contigs and 83 scaffolds (>500 bp length). Overall, the genome comprises, 5174 genes, 32 tRNA, 4 rRNA, 1 tmRNA and 92 misc_RNA. A total of eleven putative genes clusters responsible for antimicrobial metabolites biosynthesis were identified. These gene clusters include non-ribosomal lipopeptide and polyketide biosynthesizing genes. Virulence and antibiotic genes were also identified in the genome.Presence of antimicrobial genes in strain JRCGR-1 genome makes this strain as a potential biocontrol agent against soilborne pathogens.
