Abstract
Summary: Inés y la alegría, by Almudena Grandes (2010) is the first of a series of novels entitled Episodios de una Guerra interminable [Episodes of an endless War]. In this novel, the image of the “two Spains” is made up by the characters, some fictitious, others historical, and particularly by the two female protagonists who represent a quest for personal liberty in the years following the Spanish Civil War. Different focal points and narratives serve to present ethical or moral paradigms regarding "the other" that are used to distinguish between good and evil, good and bad people.Reference Key |
