Abstract
Background. Bleeding from esophageal varices is one of the leading causes of death in patients with liver cirrhosis. Purpose. The analysis of laparoscopic gastroesophageal devascularization with stapler transsection of the esophagus. Material and methods. The first successful laparoscopic gastroesophageal devascularization with stapler transsection of the esophagus in the Republic of Belarus was performed in Grodno Regional Clinical Hospital in December, 2014, in a female patient with liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension and recurrent bleeding from esophageal varices. Results and conclusions. The operation contributed to the persistent lack of variceal bleeding recurrence in the postoperative period.
