Harmful factors in engine and machinery control rooms on 9 warships (7 combat and 2 auxiliary ships) were examined. The results show that crews on thee sea ships work in conditions of insufficient luminance, elevated air temperature noise, vibration, and possibly are exposed to exhaust gases. The entire noise levels in engine and turbine rooms were between 104 dB(A) and 124 dB(A), and they were significantly above the permissible levels of 85 dB(A) and 80 dB(A). On two ships, in machinery control-rooms, the entire noise was above the permissible level (83 dB(A) and 95 dB(A)). These mentioned noise levels could lead to hearing damage if the self protecting devices for hearing protection are not used.
